Bandai Namco's fortress strategy RPG, Naruto X Boruto Ninja Voltage, is officially shutting down on December 9th, 2024, ending a nearly seven-year run. This isn't unexpected for many players, echoing the fate of its predecessor, Naruto Blazing.
The game's final events include the Village Leader World Championship (October 8th-18th), an All-Out Mission (October 18th-November 1st), and a "Thanks For Everything" campaign (November 1st-December 1st). Players can continue collecting cards, summoning, and using in-game items until the shutdown. Unspent Gold Coins should be used before the game closes.
While initially praised for its balanced gameplay, featuring village building and defense, the game's later decline is attributed to several factors. The introduction of powerful characters like Minato exacerbated power creep, alienating players. Increased pay-to-win mechanics, reduced free-to-play rewards, and the near-disappearance of multiplayer features further contributed to its downfall. Despite still being available on the Google Play Store, the game's closure signals a cautionary tale for gacha games.
