Paradox Teases New Grand Strategy Game

by Connor Sep 27,2025

Paradox Interactive, the creative force behind Stellaris and Crusader Kings 3, is gearing up to reveal something "ambitious" next week. While keeping specifics under wraps, the studio highlighted its 25-year legacy of crafting strategy games spanning "from the Roman Empire to the stars," hinting this will be its "next major title in the genre."

The Enigma of Project Caesar

Referred to internally as "Caesar," this mystery title has been the subject of ongoing developer discussions called "Tinto Talks" on the studio's forum. These diaries have solicited player input on gameplay systems, historical accuracy, and core mechanics - but now, "the time has come to reveal Caesar to the world."

Developed by Barcelona-based Studio Tinto, the latest Tinto Talks delved into Protestant religion mechanics and the "War of Religions" conflict between Western Christian denominations within their "super-top-secret" project.

Europa Universalis Connections?

Several clues point toward possible ties to the Europa Universalis franchise. The upcoming reveal will stream on the official Europa Universalis YouTube channel, fueling speculation among fans. As one Reddit user noted: "Dev Diaries haven't called it EU5 but everything implies it." Another commenter observed the channel choice might be telling: "There might've been clues along the way."

The community has long suspected this development, with one fan pointing out: "It was an open secret for over a year thanks to the Tinto Talks threads."

The grand unveiling arrives May 8, 2025, at 9am PDT (12pm EDT, 5pm BST). Paradox promises this will herald "a new era for grand strategy." We're particularly excited given our 8.9/10 review of Europa Universalis IV, which praised how it "brings accessibility to the series without compromising complexity."
