Sonic Racing CrossWorlds is set to launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 during the 2025 holiday season. Continue reading for details on the Switch 2 release and the latest trailer showcasing game customization and gadgets.

Sonic Racing CrossWorlds will arrive on the Switch 2, with its physical edition containing the complete base game on a 64GB cartridge. SEGA confirmed on the game's official website on July 16 that the digital version will debut in holiday 2025, followed by the physical release in early 2026.
Despite the growing trend of Nintendo utilizing game key cards for physical copies, SEGA has chosen to house the entire game on a 64GB cartridge. This allows players to enjoy the game immediately without any additional downloads upon purchase. A $10 upgrade from the Nintendo Switch version to the Switch 2 edition will be available, supporting progress transfer.
The Switch 2 version will join the game's cross-platform matchmaking, ensuring players can compete across all supported systems. However, the Limited Run Games Collector's Edition will not be produced for the Switch 2. Nintendo plans to share further details about the Switch 2 launch in upcoming announcements.
Following the Switch 2 launch announcement, SEGA released a new trailer focusing on vehicle customization and gadgets. In a video published on July 17, the Sonic team demonstrated the vast array of combinations in CrossWorlds, offering over 70,000 possibilities for players to design their perfect racing machine.
The video description states, "With over 40 vehicles, 70+ gadgets, and 100+ vehicle parts & decals, there are thousands of ways to customize and tune your vehicle." Beyond visual modifications, the game features gadget combinations that provide strategic advantages during races.
Players can assemble personalized gadget sets to gain an edge. Examples include the Heavy Hitter Bounty set, which uses rockets to disable rivals; the Air Trick Expert for performing stylish aerial maneuvers; and the Radio Spin Knockback, which can force opponents off course. These features empower players to "strategize, build, and race their way to victory."

As a promotional offer, SEGA is providing an exclusive vehicle—the Blue Star hoverboard—to players with a SEGA account. This bonus is available to those who link their SEGA account to their gaming platform and can be claimed between September 25 and October 31.
With these premium bonuses and rewards, along with confirmed crossovers featuring characters from Hatsune Miku, Persona, Yakuza, and more, CrossWorlds is shaping up to be the most expansive title in the racing series to date.
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds launches on September 26, 2025, for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC, with a Nintendo Switch 2 version following in holiday 2025. For the latest news and updates on the game, explore our related article below.
