Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator's Global Server to Shut Down

Sad news for global players of Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator. Koei Tecmo and Akatsuki Games have announced the End of Service (EOS) for the game's global version, effective March 28th, 2025. This comes just over a year after its January 2024 launch. The Japanese version, however, remains operational and is even preparing for its 1.5-year anniversary in March 2025 – a stark contrast to the global server's closure.

The End is Nigh (March 28th, 2025)

The global server's shutdown coincides ironically with the Japanese server's anniversary celebrations. While Japanese players will be progressing through Chapter 22, Part 2, global players will conclude their journey with Chapter 21, Part 1. In-game purchases are already disabled, but remaining Lodestar Gems can be used until the service ends. Koei Tecmo promises continued events and content leading up to the shutdown. The global version's first anniversary on January 25th, 2025, now feels bittersweet.

Reasons for the Shutdown

The developers cited an inability to maintain a satisfactory player experience as the primary reason for the closure. The game struggled to gain traction, facing criticism almost immediately after launch. The gacha system drew significant player complaints, and issues with gameplay, monetization, and excessive power creep ultimately contributed to the game's underperformance.

While the main characters were well-received, these underlying problems proved insurmountable. Global players can still access the game on the Google Play Store to enjoy any remaining content before the servers go offline.
