Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Directed Mode Has Been Huge for Zombies

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6's Directed Mode Doubles Main Quest Completion Rate

Activision reports a significant boost in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies main quest completion rates thanks to the introduction of Directed Mode. While many players prioritize survival in the wave-based gameplay, Directed Mode has successfully engaged a larger player base with the game's narrative.

Since its inception in World at War, the Call of Duty Zombies mode has featured an evolving storyline. Black Ops 6 continues this tradition, but despite a dedicated player base, quest completion remained low. The introduction of Directed Mode in Season 1 has dramatically altered this.

Data reveals an increase from a mere 4% to 8.23% completion rate, based on a staggering 480 million hours of gameplay. While this represents a doubling of completions, Treyarch acknowledges that over 90% of players still haven't finished the main quest and are exploring further improvements.

Directed Mode: A Guiding Hand Through Complex Lore

Directed Mode, included in Black Ops 6's Season 1 update alongside new maps and game modes, provides a structured path through the intricate Zombies storyline. The narrative, spanning numerous installments and involving concepts like interdimensional travel and time manipulation, can be challenging for newcomers. Previous games largely left players to navigate the story independently.

Directed Mode offers a more accessible experience, guiding players through the narrative and increasing the likelihood of main quest completion. Treyarch plans to continue refining both the Zombies mode and Directed Mode in future updates to further enhance player engagement with the story.
