Honkai Star Rail 3.2 Update Enhances Banner System Flexibility

by Leo May 20,2025

Gacha mechanics form a vital part of Honkai Star Rail, and it appears that miHoYo, now known as HoYoverse, is set to enhance player control over character pulls. Exciting leaks hint at major updates to the banner system, set to roll out with version 3.2, promising a new way for players to engage with the game's gacha elements.

Insider reports from Sakura Haven reveal that the upcoming 3.2 update will introduce a customizable pity system for limited banners. Instead of being stuck with a standard pool of characters for 50/50 pity pulls, players will gain the ability to pick their preferred characters from a curated set. These selections can either partially or fully replace the default pool, empowering players to have more say in their rewards.

Currently, the 50/50 pity pool includes 7 standard characters. However, with the 3.2 update, this will shift to a 'Group' of characters from which you can choose. You'll be able to select 7 characters from this 'Group' to form your personalized 50/50 pity pool. This means that if you lose a 50/50 roll, you'll receive a character from your customized pool rather than the default standard lineup.

The 'Group' will initially consist of the 7 standard characters along with a limited selection of additional characters for you to choose from.

This update promises to significantly boost the player experience by alleviating frustration and offering greater flexibility. By allowing players to tailor their pity pool, miHoYo is tackling one of the most frequent gripes about gacha systems: the unpredictability of losing pity rolls. With the ability to focus on specific characters, players will stand a better chance of acquiring units that align with their playstyle or preferences.

However, the details on which characters will be part of the selectable pool are still under wraps. It's not yet clear whether the pool will include past limited characters, current banner units, or even entirely new additions.

These proposed changes underscore miHoYo's commitment to refining Honkai Star Rail and making it more player-friendly. By introducing a customizable pity system, the developers are recognizing the value of player choice in gacha games. This move could set a new benchmark for how similar systems are crafted in other games.

While the specifics of the implementation and its impact are yet to be fully understood, the announcement has already generated buzz within the community. Fans are eagerly anticipating how these changes will shape their gameplay experience when Honkai Star Rail 3.2 launches.
