At the 2025 Game Developers Conference (GDC), Choi Ji-Won shared with Eurogamer his enthusiasm for the Souls genre after experiencing Elden Ring: Nightreign’s network test. A long-time admirer of FromSoftware’s work, Choi’s appreciation is reflected in Lies of P’s design.

Commenting on Nightreign, Choi noted, "Playing it felt invigorating and innovative. It’s clear they’re exceptional developers, constantly pushing creative boundaries. This inspired me to elevate the Overture DLC to its fullest potential."

Choi also expressed openness to multiplayer projects, stating, "We’re certainly exploring all possibilities for our future endeavors."

While a fan of FromSoftware, Choi clarified to Games Radar+ at GDC 2025 that his inspiration isn’t tied to one game. "I draw from a wide range of games I enjoy, blending those influences into a unique Lies of P experience crafted for our fans."

Overture DLC: 15-20 Hours of Gameplay

Choi shared that the Overture DLC offers 15-20 hours of content for skilled players, packed with bosses and elements originally planned for the base game. "Overture ties closely to the core game, making its development a mission to complete the Lies of P vision," he explained.

As a prequel set in Krat’s final days, Overture follows a legendary Stalker, incorporating player feedback and unused concepts sidelined by initial production limits. Choi likened it to a Director’s Cut, serving as the game’s concluding chapter.

"We prioritized quality in the base game, which meant not everything could be included at launch," Choi said. "Community support drove us to deliver a comprehensive expansion."

Overture’s Story Stands Alone

In an IGN interview at GDC 2025, Choi confirmed that Overture is unrelated to the base game’s final cutscene, which hinted at NEOWIZ’s plans for the Lies of P universe.

In a November 2023 Director’s Letter, Choi announced a sequel, suggesting the cutscene may tie to Lies of P 2. However, details remain scarce. "When we share updates, they’ll meet our high-quality standards," Choi assured.
