Marvel Snap, developed by Second Dinner and published by ByteDance's Nuverse, was unexpectedly removed from iOS and Android on January 18, 2025. This ban, affecting other ByteDance apps like CapCut and Lemon8, left many players frustrated, particularly due to the lack of prior warning. While PC users can still access the game via Steam, the sudden unavailability caused significant upset, with players expressing concerns about unauthorized access and wasted in-game purchases.
Second Dinner has publicly stated their commitment to restoring the game, assuring players via Platform X that "Marvel Snap is here to stay" and promising updates on their progress. Interestingly, not all ByteDance apps were affected; games like Ragnarok X: 3rd Anniversary and Earth: Revival - Deep Underground remain accessible.
Prior to the ban, we discussed the recent addition of the Moonstone card. This powerful Ongoing card (4/6) copies the Ongoing effects of 1, 2, and 3-cost cards in its lane. Given the existing number of low-cost Ongoing cards like Ant-Man and U.S. Agent, Moonstone's ability to quickly accumulate power through these freely obtained effects represents a significant meta shift.
