Starfield May Launch on PlayStation 5

by Olivia Dec 10,2025

Speculation that Starfield will soon launch on PlayStation 5 has intensified after fans noticed a PlayStation logo on Bethesda's official Creations website over the weekend.

The logo was linked to an in-development ship decals Creation for Starfield. Although the content was later removed, fans believe this hints at an upcoming PS5 release for Bethesda's sci-fi title, which has so far been exclusive to PC and Xbox.

They have added the Playstation logo to a creation. (I think they are beta testers, the logo only appears on one creation)

This discovery naturally sparks questions about whether Bethesda plans a major content update or even a new expansion to coincide with Starfield's potential PS5 debut. Recent months have seen little notable activity for Starfield, especially following the underwhelming Shattered Space expansion. Microsoft, Bethesda's parent company, typically hosts a summer showcase, making it a likely venue for Starfield-related announcements.

Bethesda has promised "exciting things" for Starfield this year, addressing player concerns over limited communication and updates. In June 2024, the studio reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Starfield, confirming at least one more story expansion after Shattered Space. In an interview with YouTube channel MrMattyPlays, Bethesda's Todd Howard expressed hopes to release annual story expansions for "a very long time."

Starfield launched in September 2023 as Bethesda's first new IP in years and its first major single-player title since Microsoft acquired ZeniMax Media in March 2021. IGN's Starfield review scored it 7/10, noting: "Starfield faces many challenges, but its expansive RPG quests and solid combat eventually create a gravitational pull that's hard to escape."

In January, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer did not dismiss the possibility of a Starfield PS5 release. Reports from March 2024 indicated both Starfield and MachineGames' Indiana Jones and the Great Circle were under consideration for PS5. Indiana Jones was later confirmed for a PS5 release in spring 2025, a few months after its PC and Xbox launch. While Starfield's PS5 version remains unconfirmed, Spencer's remarks strongly suggest it's a possibility.

Several Xbox titles are already available on PS5, including Rare's Sea of Thieves, Tango Gameworks' Hi-Fi Rush, and Obsidian's Grounded and Pentiment. Microsoft also publishes Minecraft on PlayStation and plans to release Doom: The Dark Ages and Ninja Gaiden 4 on PS5 this year. Playground's Forza Horizon 5 is also coming to PS5. Rumors even suggest Microsoft may finally bring Halo to PlayStation after decades of Xbox exclusivity.

Spencer has explained that Xbox's multiplatform strategy is partly driven by the need to generate more revenue for Microsoft's gaming division, especially following the massive $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard.

"We run a business," Spencer stated in August last year. "Microsoft holds us to a high standard in terms of the value we deliver back to the company, given the incredible support we receive.

"So I'm focused on how we can maximize the success of our games. Our platform continues to grow across console, PC, and cloud. This is simply the strategy that works for us."

It's a busy period for the 450-person Bethesda Game Studios, which currently manages five development teams: Starfield; The Elder Scrolls 6; Fallout 76; mobile; and external development partnerships.
