"Bloodborne PC Emulation Achieves Near-Stable 60 FPS"

Digital Foundry's Thomas Morgan has conducted an in-depth evaluation of Bloodborne's performance on the ShadPS4 emulator, focusing on the technical enhancements introduced by modders. For his analysis, Morgan utilized the ShadPS4 0.5.1 build developed by diegolix29, which is rooted in a custom branch by raphaelthegreat. After testing various builds, Morgan found that this particular version delivered the most optimal performance on a PC equipped with an AMD Ryzen 7 5700X processor and a GeForce RTX 4080 GPU.

To enhance the gaming experience, Morgan suggests installing the Vertex Explosion Fix mod, which effectively removes visual anomalies such as stretched or misplaced polygons. Although this mod disables face customization at the start of the game, it significantly improves visual stability. Fortunately, no additional mods are necessary as the ShadPS4 emulator comes with an integrated menu that allows users to adjust settings like enabling 60 fps, boosting resolution to 4K, and turning off chromatic aberration.

Morgan's tests revealed that Bloodborne mostly maintained a 60 fps rate, although occasional stuttering was observed. He also experimented with higher resolutions, specifically 1440p and 1800p, which enhanced image quality but resulted in performance degradation and more frequent crashes. Consequently, Morgan advises running the game at 1080p or 1152p on the ShadPS4 emulator for a more stable experience, mirroring the resolution on the original PS4.

In his concluding remarks, Morgan praised the ShadPS4 team for their remarkable progress in PS4 emulation. He noted that while Bloodborne runs impressively on the emulator, some technical challenges remain to be addressed.
